Carefully restored, the spacious living room benefits from the lofty ceilings of the original buildings and the antique farm equipment serve as a reminder of the origins of this beautiful cottage. Adjacent to the cottage is a footpath leading up Garn Fawr, an Iron Age hill fort that offers panoramic views to the lighthouse at Strumble Head, north to the Preseli Hills and south all the way along the coast towards St Davids Head.

Where did those 4 years go since our last stay here?! It has been simply wonderful to be back. We have found everything at Ty Uchaf Cottage comfortable, peaceful and well equipped, reminding ourselves of the unique loveliness of this house and area.
Well, what a wonderful week we have experienced on our first visit to Ty Uchaf Cottage! Firstly, thank to Helen and Andrew for providing the most homely, comfortable and well appointed cottage on the doorstep of an area of such outstanding beauty. We have loved our early evening G&T in the sunken patio, reading whilst listing to the background hum of the hard working bees and the beautiful varied birdsong. Days have been spent walking the dramatic coastline both directly from the cottage and a little further afield. We’ve enjoyed hearty meals prepared in the wonderfully appointed kitchen, read and watched TV and then feel into a deep sleep in the comfy bed, walking up refreshed to don the walking boots and do it all again. This has been one of the most relaxing and reinvigorating trips we have experienced!
We very much enjoyed our stay at Ty Uchaf Cottage, which was very comfortable and convenient for different walks.
Lovely, warm and comfortable cottage. Such a well appointed holiday cottage. Thank you
We booked the cottage on the strength of reviews, hoping that it would suit us both, because one of us likes a lot of walking and the other is unable to join in much due to limited mobility. It was a very good choice! The cottage is every bit as comfortable as promised, and even I managed to walk up the lane most evenings, where the view has ranged from glorious sunset to almost invisible!
Have spent most of the time on the various beaches along the coast. With two small daughters we haven’t walked as much as we’d like but have managed to get along the coastal paths. The best thing is the evening stroll from the cottage to the coastal path along Pwll Deri. The light is amazing.
The path goes just below John Piper’s cottage which nestles under Garn Fawr. The artistic associations are strong and we feel inspired to try our rather feeble painting skills.
Our first time to Ty Uchaf Cottage, but hopefully not our last. We’ve walked, swum, eaten and relaxed better than ever, not least of all because of the cottage. What a cracking place, the best, most welcoming cottage we’ve stayed in. The scenery is second to none, the coastline is simply stunning and I can see now more than ever why the challenge of the coast path is such a draw – one day, maybe!
Have had an outstanding week in an outstanding location! Really enjoyed walks along the coastal paths, some lovely afternoons on the beach and the tranquillity and amazing scenery of this location. However, the real bonus of an evening has been the laughter generated by reading the comments in the three volumes of these holiday observation books. We have not wept with laughter so much in a long time, some of the comments are priceless!
We realised that the cottage we choose is not just a base, but an integral part of our holiday; somewhere with a peaceful and happy atmosphere that’s cosy and warm. This cottage fulfilled all our hopes and has been a haven, we have just kept reminding ourselves how lucky we are to have been able to stay here – thank you.... We’ve not been since 2012 (it’s our fifth visit) and it was really wonderful to be back to make use of your beautiful new kitchen.
The cottage is a delight – the position is of course incomparable but the care taken by the owner to provide a comfortable holiday cottage complete with books, maps, well equipped kitchen etc is appreciated.
Seldom heard such silence or seen such wonderful stars – what a beautiful place!
Wonderful to be back in Ty Uchaf Cottage and such a welcome place to rest in this beautiful part of Pembrokeshire. Got here late so basically unpacked, had supper and went to bed. What a wonderful surprise greeted us the next morning by beautiful scenery, sunshine and horses and their foals. They are my favourite creatures, so majestic to watch and enjoy during our stay.
Our first visit to this cottage, what a delight. A lovely cottage with everything you could need. We lived the week at the back of the cottage. Did parts of coastal walk straight from cottage. Had a day at St Davids, did usual sightseeing stuff then went to 'Cross Hotel' for a lovely lunch, dog friendly as well which is always a bonus! Spent an evening at Strumble Head, took a picnic and sat there waiting for the ferry to go by and then stayed to watch the sunset. Stunning! Would recommend that to anyone. Went to Dinas Head and did walk, nice and steady walk, takes a lot longer now as our westie 'Caelio' is 12, but she has loved all the walks! Likes the beaches as well, especially doing roly poly's in the wet sand! At Abercastle the tide was out so we could go out quiet long way, we started with a white dog and came back with a brown/grey/white dog! She Loved it! Fish and chips at 'The Ship' in Porthgain to finish the week off a treat! And the weather has been great all week! Thank you for the use of your beautiful cottage!
One wild storm in this snug cottage - another due tonight, our last night. We've had two superb cliff path walks, one to the lighthouse and then back over the mountain and down the path at the back of the cottage.; the other, heading south to Velindre and back along the path. So many seals and their babies! Plenty of places to watch them from the headland. Shopping in Fishguard, a day in St Davids, a trip to the local beaches and the Woollen Mill - all highly recommended.
Last year when we were packing up to leave and our neighbours here weren't, we determined that if possible our next visit would be for 2 weeks! And so it has been, and we have felt very fortunate to be here for such a break.
Our sixth visit to this wonderful cottage, which gets better each year! Discovered some new walks but still gratefully enjoyed the regular ones. Fabulous!
We fell in love with Pembrokeshire last summer, so decided to return this year. This was our first visit to Ty Uchaf Cottage but we hope it won't be our last! The cottage has everything we need and it is a cosy place to relax on wet days. It is lovely to be able to access the coastal path so easily, and the scenery all around is beautiful. The view from Carn Fawr is fantastic! We haven't ventured far afield - we've just enjoyed beautiful walks from the cottage and from Abercastle, Porthgain and Strumble Head. It was a joy to see several seals and two choughs. Abermawr is a beautiful place to swim and we've had three invigorating dips there. It was lovely to meet the owner of Ty Uchaf Mill who have been so friendly and helpful. Thank you for a wonderful holiday!
The new touches in the cottage have been much appreciated. The kitchen is very well equipped and still ranks in Anne’s top 5 kitchens! As ever, Ty Uchaf worked its magic and everyday of the holiday has been special! Thank you!
Our first visit to Pembrokeshire.... wow!! Such a delightful cottage, so thoughtfully equipped and in a beautiful setting, gave us the base from which to (begin to) discover the area. There seems to be another stunning view or beach around every corner.
Loved the cottage and of course tranquillity of this part of the world, just to sit in silence was wonderful! To be here at Christmas was just what we needed, away from all the mayhem. We could have stayed here forever.
We’ve had a lovely fortnight here. It is a wonderful location – we’ve walked from the cottage and further afield. We’d recommend the Coast Path in both directions from here. Strumblehead gave us shearwaters and porpoises – a great delight! This is one of the best equipped cottages we’ve ever been in – was wonderful to have stacks of crocks and eating irons so that we can use the dishwasher! Thank you for the wifi, really appreciated access to the iPlayer to catch up on Radio 4 plays!
It has been a pleasure to stay in such a lovely, well-equipped cottage, and to be able to soak up the Welsh sunshine in beautiful countryside.
Our second visit to Ty Uchaf Cottage and like the new touches. Peaceful and beautiful place!
Very comfortable stay in a splendid cottage located in spectacular coastal countryside.
A return to Pembrokeshire after 40 years. The coastal scenery just as spectacular and wonderful to take in all the signs and sounds of Spring. We have enjoyed all the home comforts Ty Uchaf brings!!
Our third visit here and first in the Spring. Enjoyed the spring flowers, wildlife and views – we’ll be back again!
